Flanked by steeply-rising sand dunes, the Desert Nights Camp comprises 30 permanent luxury tents. Tent is actually a misleading description as these are about as far from a wet weekend’s camping in the UK as you can imagine. The walls are a fixed brick construction and you have a peaked canvas roof. Air-conditioning keeps the temperature pleasant and you have an ensuite bathroom. The room is furnished with a large, comfortable bed and traditional Omani decorations and furniture, giving you a real sense of place. The restaurant provides dinner under the stars to the accompaniment of local musicians and there are a variety of excursions on offer like quad biking and camel rides. The Desert Nights Camp is by some distance the most luxurious way to experience the Wahiba Sands.
