The Crowne Plaza occupies a prime spot in Muscat, atop a cliff overlooking the ocean. Stairs lead down from the pool area to a beach, large enough at low tide to join with the main Muscat beach, but almost covered at high tide. The rooms are pleasant and decorated in a modern style with light, airy colours. Restaurants include Muscat’s only Persian restaurant (order the lamb chops, you won’t regret it) and Duke’s Bar has long been a favoured pub for those in the know.
