The newest addition to the accommodation options in the Nizwa area, the Anantara Jabal Akhdar lines the cliff-line along one of Oman’s most dramatic natural scenes, the gorge at the Saiq Plateau. Accommodation is split between rooms and villas, some of which have individual pools. There is plenty to do up here, with guided or unguided walks recommended as this is a really wonderful spot, though rock-climbing and abseiling are also offered. The restaurant hosts delicious, quality buffets each evening (save room for the petit four-style array of desserts!) alongside an a la carte menu, and the range of treatments at the luxurious spa give it a real mountain retreat feel.
